Jurgen Klopp provides injury updates
Jurgen Klopp has cleared Thiago Alcantara to return for Liverpool when they are hosted by Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
But the Reds boss stated that captain Jordan Henderson will be absent until after the international break next month as he provided a quartet of injury updates in Naples.
Thiago pulled up just five minutes into the second half of the Premier League opener with Fulham on August 6 with a hamstring issue but is now poised for a comeback after returning to training on Monday.
"Thiago is back in training, it was his second day today which means he's ready," Klopp said. "For how long [tomorrow] we'll see. Hendo, he had the results of the scan and after the international break I think he'll be back."

Benfica made an attempt to sign Nat Phillips
Benfica made an attempt to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips at the end of the transfer window, according to reports.
James Pearce of the Athletic reports that Benfica made an offer for the defender, but following the injury to Ibrahima Konate Jurgen Klopp decided to keep the 25-year-old.
"The Athletic can reveal that the day before the deadline, Benfica tried to sign Phillips on a season-long loan. The Portuguese giants urgently needed defensive reinforcements and their German manager Roger Schmidt had admired Phillips since his loan stint at Stuttgart in 2019-20."

Billy Gilmour tipped to play for Liverpool or Manchester City
Billy Gilmour has been tipped to one day play for Liverpool or Manchester City by former Chelsea man Pat Nevin.
Gilmour ended his five-year stay at Chelsea earlier this summer, whom he had joined from Rangers in 2017, and joined Brighton and Hove Albion after finding it difficult to break into Thomas Tuchel's plans earlier this summer.
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Nevin said: "I wouldn't be surprised if Billy Gilmour ends up playing for Liverpool or Man City in a few years
"Billy Gilmour is at a crucial point in his career, and the move to Brighton is brilliant. It's the right move. Chelsea won't regret selling him because that's not the way they think as a club - but they may want to buy him back again.
"Four or five years down the line, I won't be surprised if he's playing in the Manchester City, Liverpool or Chelsea midfield - he's that technically good."

How much Liverpool will make in Champions League money after jump up UEFA rankings
While the Premier League season may have got off to a stuttering start for Liverpool, the Reds have the welcome distraction of European football on Wednesday evening, writes Dave Powell.
Liverpool, last season's Champions League and Premier League runners up, are in Champions League action for the first time this campaign as they kick off their 2022/23 European journey with a visit to Serie A side Napoli.
The Champions League has become increasingly lucrative for top clubs over the years, and for any side that misses out on the top four and a place at the table for European football's elite competition it comes with significant financial consequences.

FSG transfer reality becomes clear as Liverpool set for £115m boost
Last season for Liverpool was something of a strange one. Fighting on all four fronts until the very last day, the quadruple was within their grasp it seemed, writes Dave Powell.
Having bagged both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, a Champions League final and Premier League title shootout with Manchester City stood between the Reds and footballing immortality.
But defeat in Paris to Real Madrid in European football's most prized club event, and City overturning a 2-0 deficit against Aston Villa in the final 15 minutes of their Premier League season in May meant that Liverpool ended up being so near yet so far, a season that was on the cusp of greatness ended being just a great season.

Jordan Henderson injury latest
Jordan Henderson is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks, according to reports.
The Athletic revealed on Monday the captain had a scan on Friday and, while the problem isn't as severe as first feared, he's unlikely to feature before the international break.
He's expected to remain sidelined for the games against Napoli, Wolves, Ajax and Chelsea - with Brighton on October 1 the potential return date should he not take part in England's international fixtures.

Juventus face 'obstacle' in signing Roberto Firmino
Juventus face one big obstacle in their pursuit of Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, according to reports in Italy.
The Reds' no.9 is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and has been tentatively linked with a move away over the summer, with Italy the rumoured destination.
Now, Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb suggests Juve could revist their interest in January as their desire to sign the Brazilian 'has not faded'. However, the Serie A club currently have 'no room' for another attacker, the report adds.
Dusan Vlahovic, Angel Di María, Federico Chiesa, Arkadiusz Milik and Moise Kean are currently on the books and it has been claimed at least one will need to be shifted before new additions can be brought in.
It can be said, however, that isn't Juve's only obstacle in landing the Liverpool forward as the player himself as already expressed his desire to remain on Merseyside. “I love this team, city and fans. I'm here at Liverpool and I want to stay,” he told TNT Brazil earlier in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old puts pen to paper on a new contract before it expires at the end of the campaign, but Firmino is no doubt a key member of Jurgen Klopp's squad and suspension/injury has seen his game time increased already this season and he's once again proved how important he is.

Inter Milan 'consider' Nicolo Barella
Inter Milan are 'considering' a January sale of rumoured Liverpool target Nicolo Barella, according to reports in Italy.
Outlet CalcioMercatoWeb suggest the 25-year-old could be available for €70M when the transfer window reopens following the Serie A giants' disappointing start to the season.
It's no secret Liverpool are in the market for a midfielder, having made a last minute addition in Arthur Melo on deadline day, but their search will no doubt continue into the next couple of transfer windows.
Barella was among the names to be linked with a move to Anfield over the summer, however there was widespread reports suggesting an unwillingness from the player's side to leave Italy and a deal for Barella was deemed 'impossible' by the media.
